Clarence Jones passes down the torch!
Thursday, May 18th, 2006
Y’all remember I spoke about meeting the legend Clarence Jones, in this week’s Burrel Report diary, and how a chance meeting led to a moment that I will treasure for life? Well, here’s a glimpse of what Clarence inscribed on a copy of Vanity Fair–featuring the article about himself and his role in making history (”The Man Who Kept King’s Secrets” April Edition)
If you can’t quite make out the words, here is what he had to say to me:
“Brother Burrel you are an example of the best of what Dr. King’s wrote to our people. If he were alive I think he could be as proud of you as I. I know you will carry the torch for your generation to continue to do those things which honor his legacy. Love Clarence.”
I’ll keep you posted on how this fascinating man and I plan to do some great things together…
